I was in awe when I popped them in that first year prior to Game Pass. It was cool when Rare Achievements were added back in 2016 - they indeed felt genuine and exclusive when you earned one. I'm not a trophy / achievement hunter, but seeing the popup when I do something neat is a fun feeling. Should the metric for what qualifies as a rare achievement be changed? Maybe a certain amount of time spent in the game should be required to be counted against the metric or something along those lines?īut Transistor, why don't you just turn off achievement popups? But when a large number of people do that, it inherently skews the metric for rare achievements. Now, you can easily pick up a game, play it for 5 or 10 minutes and put it down if it’s not for you. In theory, they’re a pretty neat thing.īut that kinda changed with Game Pass. For those who aren’t familiar with them, rare achievements are achievements that less than 10% of the populace that have played the game have acquired. Practically every achievement I got had the “rare achievement” popup. But there’s something I realized when I played the game. Thanks to Game Pass, I don’t have to worry about that. I saw the trailers and it looked neat, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to drop $30 without knowing if I would like it. There are so many games that I never would have discovered if it weren’t for the service. I want to start this by saying I fucking love Game Pass.
